Saturday meeting in Milan led to a new ten member commission to oversee grading and sorting of the Greeley potato crop. The body will set rules, arbitrate disputes, inspect shipments, and aim to improve grower merchant relations and market reputation for the spud district.
The Severance feeders are returning from the trip east with sheep consignments. Will Hall has come back from Chicago with a thousand head. Rose Hawking also returned recently and visited his sister in Kangaa City on the way home.
Governor Shafroth delivers a fiery message to the legislature urging party pledge adherence or resignation. He threatens an extra session and warns officials against evading pre election pledges, calling for prompt decisive work to redeem party principles.

Rob Austin of near Windsor was arrested last Saturday on a warrant from Johnstown farmers alleging he obtained goods under false pretenses. He allegedly bought six or seven ears of hay and gave checks that banks refused to cash, with Austin claiming the checks were rejected due to substandard goods.
John H. Adama formerly of Greeley now based in Telluride Colorado traveled to Greeley on business on a Wednesday. He is the son of Captain B o C Adama an early Greeley resident.
Lem J Mayhew confined in Boulder jail for the Collier murder near Longmont hanged himself on an iron bar with a towel while Salvation Army sang outside. He told two prisoners he killed Collier over his wife and attempted to destroy evidence, then set the body alight before dying. He exonerated his wife claiming she knew nothing of the crime and said a $1000 reward will be paid to Boulder County sheriff.
A Portland era notice reports Governor Shafroth proclaims April 16 Arbor Day and urges school children to plant trees. An admirer from Washington offered 200000 sycamore seedlings, favoring distribution through Colorado schools with state endorsement.
Two men, a Mexican named Frank Martinez from near Windsor and a Greek man named George Thom, were sentenced in Canon City to eight months in the penitentiary after pleading guilty to stealing bicycles. The judge warned that crime is rising and mercy will be scarce for future bicycle thieves. Martinez, who has a wife and child, faced additional accusations of firing at a man, though his revolver was empty. Thom stole a bicycle from a Greely shop, attempted to flee toward Denver, and had been in the country about fourteen months.
Mrs. O. C. Prunty of Paraway Australia reports two letters from her brother John W. Leuty, once with Home Electric Light Co. in Greeley. Leuty travels with banker Mr. Smith of Hancock Minnesota, famed for diamond interests in Australia. They passed through here late January and will remain in Australia through the summer.
John A Slayton reports the Carr ditch survey east of Lone Tree Creek is finished funded by popular subscription with nearly every farmer contributing money or labor. He notes soon west side residents should organize to survey their territory and prepare maps for government submission to allow possible northward water flow.
The new town of Gill includes an anti saloon clause in every deed, ensuring property reversion to the original owner if the agreement is broken, linking Gill with Erie through shared reform goals. Weld county still hosts eight saloons in mining camps, likely to stay pending a local option law. Erie has five, Frederick two, and Firestone one.
