On Friday evening in Platteville a social event raised about 90 dollars in cash with provisions and items pushing totals over 100 dollars for the widow Metcalf. The same week over two hundred dollars was gathered for charitable needs. A child of the widow died Wednesday from diphtheria and was buried the following day.
