City officials plan an early installation of a new fire alarm system as street work continues. Street Supervisor Seaman to oversee sprinkler operation. water mains and fire plugs to be tested monthly. Bootlegger crackdown discussed with enforcement costs deemed too high for long terms.
The Mothers' Congress will hold a 3 p m gathering Saturday at Mrs I Rothschild home. The annual election of officers will be conducted during the meeting.
Miss Grace Dwinell was in Greeley this morning returning from Bronx City Iowa after visiting there for six weeks. She plans to continue homeward to Windwr.
A Greeley sorority hosted a Tuesday evening party at Dr and Mrs J A Weaver home to celebrate new members. About twenty couples attended and the young men were blindfolded with tied arms before performing stunts and taking an oath of allegiance. Refreshments followed late.
The Friday event at 4 15 p m in the high school auditorium features children aiding dramatic storytelling. Edith Heath will lead young pupils in action filled tales while Grace Davis recounts Fire Myths to intermediates and Irene Mott presents King Arthur for older children.

The Gill Gun Club won the shoot yesterday securing a dominant sixteen point victory to claim the championship title. Members credited teamwork and precise marksmanship for the win.
Gill defeated Kersey 211 to 195 on the Greeley club grounds securing their third win in five contests to become northern Colorado champions. Gill's top scorers were Peter Brown Jr 20 J S Harrison 19 and B B Edwards 18. Kersey's leading shooters were L B Tucker 17 Ed Fuqua 16 and C E Williams 10. Notables included Max Hensler Col A H Hardy and representatives from Winchester.
At the upcoming school board meeting a Playground Association committee will request a physical director to supervise school athletics and playground activities. The same director could oversee public school grounds in summer. Committee members include Dr Z X Snyder Mrs D D Hugh and A G Gordon. Frank I Ewing was elected president and Prof A G Gordon secretary. eighteen directors were elected.
The junior girls defeated the senior girls 22 to 8 in a Normal school basketball game. In the first half the juniors led 10 to 3 with Vera Wasley scoring 20 points for the juniors and Anna Bullock tallying all points for the seniors. This is the second consecutive junior victory in the series.
One of Weld county's few unorganized districts voted to form a district at week's end. Located north and east of Gill, it had been sparsely settled with no schools until recently. Twenty five parents signed a petition seeking district status. if funds are not secured for a school by fall, a building may be rented and a school opened then.
The Greeley public library reports for year ending February 28, 1911. It shows income sources totaling 588.70 and a hand balance of 174.11. Books in use 6424, new funds 229, donated 202, losses 92. 192 more volumes than prior year. 54 408 visits, average 176 daily attendees, peak 365 on Feb 25.
In a Denver federal court Slusser pled guilty as part of a licensing dispute. The proceedings centered on regulatory compliance and a license transfer or restoration issue impacting the defendant. Prosecutors described the agreement as a favorable outcome for Slusser and the licensing authority awaits final court actions.
One of three Weld county bootleggers taken to Denver for federal charges, Slusser pleaded guilty before U S Commissioner Hinsdale and received a government license to sell liquor in the dry territory. He is immune from further government prosecution while the two companions await grand jury action in Pueblo.
President Taft accepted the resignation of Richard Achilles Ballinger from the cabinet. Walter L. Lisher of Chicago was named to replace him. Letters reveal Ballinger sought relief due to ill health before January 19 and submitted a formal resignation. rumors linked impeachment talk to Ballinger-Pinchot disclosures.
