Last winter Thomas Russell or Thomas Mayer bookkeeper for United Produce left town very promptly and has not returned. Authorities report he is wanted on unspecified charges and a warrant is active.
A high roller left two days ago, causing a 1500 shortfall for the company. Marshal Camp received a telegram from James J. Langdon of New York's detective force reporting they had the man in custody on two charges. Charges will be filed locally, and he will be brought back to Greeley if needed.
Rain halted Saturday's Eagles Indians game and a phony evening match entertained crowds as the Indians banked cash. The Reds tied 6 6 with Smith Brooks after 12 innings at Island Grove Park, amid erratic plays and disputed calls. In district court on Wednesday a jury returned a verdict for Adam Alt against John Dowling awarding $500 damages in an eviction case. Earlier, Luella Moss’s divorce petition against Lincoln Moss was granted on cruelty grounds, with A F Tew appointed to defend the husband. Later, Arvilla Mee ker and Ralph Meeker lost to Rosene Meeker as the court examined deeds and bric a brac in the clerk’s quarters. a long trial ended after 11 pm with a verdict for the defendant. Cruelty testimony favored Rozene, supported by many respected witnesses, amid a frank airing of domestic relations.
City council in regular session with Mayor absent. Petition to deem the gas works a nuisance considered but tabled on legal grounds. Health officer urged inspection and cleanup of premises. J M Cameron's building permit on Eighth Avenue granted. State Normal rates set at $1,000 yearly. Marshals ordered weed control or property taxes to cover cleanup.
Sixteen knights of Greeley lodge No. 31 K P Visit Fort Collins invited by local brothers and enjoy a strong performance by a leading state team. They share supper after lodge work and hear brief addresses from Fort Collins and visiting knights led by Sir Knight Haynes on duties and obligations.
The Tribune announces a new edition titled Glimpses of Greeley, double the size and pages of the former Greeley and Vicinity, at the same fifty cent price. One thousand copies are in press and orders should be placed early at The Tribune office.

Tuesday afternoon in county court Carl Vetter and Anna Sauter of Johnstown were united in marriage. The couple represent two of the most respected families in the western part of the county.
Sunday night Mrs Horton left Greeley for Spokane and Tuesday she and Waldo VanVieck proprietor of the National hotel of that city were married. Friends in Greeley extend congratulations to the couple and their good fortune.
Dr. G W Graham travels to Philadelphia for his wedding to Miss Jean Elizabeth Worts of that city on the 29th inst. After a seaside visit and Thousand Islands sojourn the couple will return to Greeley via St. Louis where he plans to settle. May they enjoy Colorado’s climate for many years.
Friends of Miss Elsie Teas were surprised this week by an unexpected social event. Local residents gathered at a community venue to honor Miss Teas and celebrate her recent achievements.
It leaked out that she married May 29 to Mayfield L. Jones of this place by Rev. W. N. Durham in Cheyenne. They planned secrecy until ready to go to housekeeping and will live in Greeley once a suitable house is found. Mrs. Jones was a contestant in The Tribune World’s Fair contest and Mr. Jones is a local young farmer.
At high noon yesterday Archie Brownell and Isa Thomas were married in Wenona Lake Indiana by Rev John Breckenridge. The couple plans to return to Greeley next week and will live on their LaGrange district ranch. The bride is eldest daughter of Mrs Mary Thomas and is well regarded locally. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs Job Brownell and noted as an industrious farmer awaiting homestead duties.
E. C. Kunde of Manila Philippines, former Greeley boy with Company D, now deputy sheriff, visits D. H. Barber of Ashton district after three weeks here. He plans to attend the World's Fair then return September 1. Kunde cites Guy Welch thriving in Manila and notes a jail project and a National Prohibition Convention in Indianapolis June 28 to 30. The Chicago Great Western Railway advertises round trip tickets to Indianapolis June 26 and 27 at one fare plus 2.25.
