Denver men plan vast water scheme in Weld county
A Denver Holland syndicate plans a series of reservoirs with storage to irrigate 50 000 to 100 000 acres in Weld county. Options on about 14 000 acres near Box Elder valley have been taken and 10 000 more eyed. Main reservoir at Broomfield will feed Platte river ditches toward Fort Lupton and Platteville, with water drawn from South Boulder creek and tunnels to cross the Continental Divide. Dutch capital backs the project, but practical irrigators doubt enough supply to meet aims of at least 2 million dollars in land and reservoirs.
