The Tribune invites all music lovers within practical distance to a park concert at 3:30 PM next Sunday. Last concert drew about three thousand. organizers hope the crowd doubles. The program ends with Nearer My God to Thee and a communal singing of the hymn.
Severe hail and rain last week flooded streets two to three feet deep in Evans. Rumor claimed the Barrel's reservoir had burst. C F Bartel and County Surveyor Stimson checked the hilltop reservoir north of Evans and found no breach. The downpour matched a cloud burst, flooding the area.
The Saccharine Gazette notes last year 49 beet sugar factories operated in the country producing 240,604 tons from 242,573 acres at 8.4 tons per acre and $4.96 per ton. Growers were paid $41.66 per acre, a low gross return given labor and land quality, though Colorado produced 20 percent of U S sugar with 11 percent of factories.

The Rocky Ford Tribune reports a recipe from the American Beet Sugar company for spraying beets with Paris green. Dry spray uses one part Paris green to 20 parts flour in cheesecloth bags. wet spray uses one pound Paris green per 100 gallons water with lime, adjustable to 50–100 gallons per batch. James Whyte returns to Greenville after ten weeks in Wyoming and South Dakota, noting abundant wood and larger lamb crops, with healthy, fat stock across ranges.
Judge Garrigues departed for Cincinnati to attend the national B. P. O. E. convention in that city, which begins Tuesday.
George R. Hunter married Miss Nanny Harris at the bride’s parents home in Greeley on Wednesday at 10:30 after a Fourth of July celebration. He departed with Rev. A. W. Jamieson for St Louis and the fair, surprising readers with the secret marriage and brief notice from Loveland Reporter.
C. H. Kuhne of Kansas City and his brother in law G. Spurr of Milwaukee visited Greeley on Monday as guests of Richard Patterson. Kuhne, a commission merchant and produce dealer, sought peaches cantaloupes and Greeley potatoes while Spurr, a railroad man on vacation, enjoyed drives around the countryside and praised the homes and streets.
The Niemeyers of Evans report their daughters Rosa and Blanch have arrived in St. Louis after studying in Hanover Germany since last September. They attended music and art schools and completed a course in German during their overseas stay.
