The store vows to make July busy with daily special sales and prices. It plans an August 1 inventory, aims to stock cheaply for fall, and offers equal access to all customers on the same day at the same prices. Money and markets drive their sales strategy.
Monday July 16 offers a dress goods sale with a half wool lot at 10 cents a yard. A second lot includes Broadhead goods at 25 cents and a third lot at 50 cents. The 50 cent selection is described as surprising.
On Tuesday July 17 a one day sale offers pieces of table linen at 20 to 35 cents with stated values 30 to 50. Cream linen and turkey red linen priced per piece or in small bundles with linen, napkins and towels included.
A one day event offers bordered handkerchiefs at various discounts. 5 cent handkerchiefs come as 2 for 5 cents, 10 cent styles at 5 cents, higher priced goods reduced to 15 or 26 cents, with lace purchases encouraged on the sale day.
Thursday July 19 shoppers can buy black cashmere double width for ten cents a piece. A diagonal beauty for twenty five cents. Two novelty pieces for thirty five cents. A novelty for forty cents and another for fifty cents. Three pieces of black goods for seventy five cents. Four pieces for one dollar. Silk balance sold at silk day prices.
Friday July 20 features one day only discounts. One lot of Ladies Jerseys for 50 cents and another lot for 75 cents. Jerseys for 1.00 with a 25 percent reduction on all fine jerseys. Gauze and jersey fitting underwear offered at a reduced price on the same day.
Saturday July 21 event offering wool challies at 15 cents, all wool nun's veiling pin stripe, 85 cent Henrietta at 50 cents, satin stripe English wool in cream at 60 cents, cuting cloths at 15 cents to close.
The column invites readers to spend a vacation at the store during July with daily special sales. It promises a cool store and notes crowds seen by customers, urging attendance at upcoming promotions and to watch the column for daily deals throughout the month.
Greeley events feature Mrs. Bertha Couzens as Josephine in Pinafore with Fisk's orchestra for two nights. Fire at Greeley Mills destroys mill and warehouse, estimate insured, while a Fourth of July excursion to Boulder includes fire department demonstrations and races with injuries to Boury.
The production playful farce Three Wives to One Husband previews at the Greeley Opera House on July 16 and 17 and continues all week. The Cleveland Plain Dealer calls it the funniest recent farce with original plotting and nonstop comic situations.
Greeley baseball team led by manager J F Fezer traveled to Cheyenne to face the Red Stockings. The Cheyenne nine were held to a seven to six loss in eight innings with a two hour contest drawing praise for both sides. A return game is planned in a few weeks. Also notes Pinafore at the Opera House and a discount on Bissell carpet sweepers.
