Survived by his wife two daughters Mrs M O Smith of Greeley and Miss Squires and son M A Squires of this place. Funeral plans not listed.
Mrs. Martha Ann Murphy of Erie, a Civil War era resident since 1881, died at 87 after a life marked by robberies and war memories. She sheltered her family during Shiloh, saw homes ransacked, and survived a kitchen clash where Union attackers were killed. Funeral held at M E Church with numerous descendants and townspeople in attendance.
Ben Kawamoto a 30 year old Japanese man was shot dead Saturday night in the Yoshimoto restaurant Eaton. T Ide is accused amid a claimed third man’s friendship loan dispute. Coroner Macy attends the inquest as evidence points to Ide. Kawamoto leaves a three year old daughter Kate in Denver with Cornelia Bovey.
Johnstown opens a new plumbing shop in the water works district. W. J. Preston and Arthur Anderson of Berthoud lease the water room north of the P. Mintener Lumber company to operate the business.
Fraternal Order of Owls moves to establish a fully organized lodge in Greeley within three weeks. W. B. Jarvis, the western organizer, arrives with four crewmen to recruit members and set up offices above Bethge's cafe. William S. Hunt to supervise the local staff as the eight year old order, claiming 400000 members, expands nationwide.
