Stoneham Rancher Held in Jail For Shooting Filer

George Belwoedar a 44 year old Stoneham rancher is jailed in Weld County on charges connected to a shooting that wounded John Filer 60 of Timn. The incident followed a cattle damage dispute over four cows. Filer’s condition was reported serious but improving with pneumonia risk cited. Schroeder admitted firing but said the shot was unintended during an escalating argument over pasture and fence duties.

Hurt in Sideswiping Accident Near Windsor

A sideswipe near Windsor at 10 p.m. Tuesday injured several people including Derringer of Port and Stonecnete residents. The crash involved a Derringer vehicle and a Stonecnete car. Passengers reported minor injuries and the cause was not immediately clear.

Beet Growers Meet Here On CIO Demand

Sterling September 28 A L Litel president of the Mountain States Beet Growers Association said directors would meet at Greeley early next week to consider a CIO demand for an agreement on beet field workers. Litel had just returned from Chicago where representatives discussed 1933 acreage allotments. He approved the proposal amendment but said the association’s directors have authority to handle labor matters. The meeting at Greeley may be open to members. an attorney will define the board’s powers. Any change in control would require ratification by a majority of members. Colorado plans to file a beet claim for 30 000 acres for 1939 not allocated at Chicago. Colorado acreage in 1934 was about 242,000. drought and other conditions reduced Colorado’s beet area, though production grew in other areas.

Man Killed in Denver Train Crash in Yards

One person died and fourteen were injured when the Panorama Limited on the Denver & Rio Grande Western collided with a Denver & Sale Lake freight train near Fifty-fifth Avenue and Lowell Boulevard just north of Denver city limits. The deceased, identified tentatively as Robert H. Miner, a Denver & Salt Lake section hand, was believed to have been riding the blinds and was virtually decapitated in the wreckage.
