Hitler Says Sudeten Land to Join Germany in Final Move

Adolf Hitler addressed a large crowd denying any intent to provoke, declaring the Sudeten region of Czechoslovakia would come under German sovereignty if Benes does not seek peace. He framed the Prague government’s acceptance of the Anglo-French plan as insufficient, warned of no return to talks, and promised a durable peace with Britain only if agreements are respected. He boasted of a powerful armed force and blasted democracies for opposing disarmament while labeling Czechoslovakia unfit to exist as a state with 3,500,000 Germans inside it. He pledged a united front with Italy against aggression and emphasized Germany's insistence on its territorial claims.
