Beet Harvest Underway in Montana Territory
Pha sugar beet harvest has started in Great Western Sugar Company territory across Montana and neighboring states. The Mt. Loyell factory began operations last week with others in Colorado Nebraska and Wyoming set to start. Farmers are urged to delay beets in ground to maximize sugar content as rains boosted growth and dry spells accelerate processing. Deliveries will be sliced to daily plant capacity with unrestricted shipments starting October 3. The 1933 harvest aims for 760,000 tons from 284,000 acres, up 36 percent from 1932.
