Ggsdale Milliken Pierce Ill towns plan harvest home days with free dinners motorcycle races field displays and prizes. Dry land crops and watermelons feature at Ggsdale while athletics and grain judging draw crowds. Officials promise a day of fun and a lasting tradition.
Farmers in the county show keen interest as a beet harvester demonstration is held at the Decker ranch led by W. Mich. Gubtil, of 8S. B. Gubtil.
The Platteville Gun Club leases Milton reservoir with blinds decoys and a clubhouse. Twenty members are listed with Andrew Lang as president and F Coykendail as secretary and treasurer. Arrangements completed yesterday. Members can hunt from Saturday night to Monday morning. The reservoir is a favored mallard area with occasional wild goose sightings.
Sept 20 report of an early run mishap involves conductor C P Who who stepped from a moving train with his wife after visiting sister Mrs J P O Connor. His foot was caught on the step causing a long drag and severe injuries.
Negotiations near closure for the reorganization of the Denver Reservoir and Irrigation company and affiliates aim to lift mortgages on 60 000 to 70 000 acres and to settle and cultivate land. The plan transfers all assets to Chicago Title and Trust as trustee, issues 2 650 000 in bonds, and uses 1 250 000 in bonds as a lien for short term financing to complete the project.
Ault farmers, led by W. D. Young and the Ault Commercial club, secured ten tons of premium potatoes for the September 26 bake in Greeley. The potatoes, grown nearby, are described as smooth, uniform, white and fluffy after baking, and are expected to feed ten to fifteen thousand visitors.
Windsor to reopen after a year idle with wheat supply for nine months. George Wilkins of Gothenburg Nebraska is miller and J E Meagher is engineer. Despite being one of northern Colorado’s largest mills, wheat shortages and poor shipping access forced the shutdown.
Farmers of the Greeley section are urged to attend a 2:30 PM meeting in the district court room to discuss the independent sugar factory proposal. Ward Darley will be present and details of the project will be reviewed. officials expect a large attendance due to strong interest from last Tuesday night.
The Colorado State Land Board ordered cancellation of certificates of sale for all delinquents but gave buyers until January 1 to redeem. Many dry farmers faced crop failures and extensions, while speculators face strict limits. The move affects small farmers, large landowners, and major irrigation firms.
Stephen Harrington, 14, son of E. C. Harrington, new to Pierce from LaSalle, was badly burned on the face when a gas explosion as he opened the fire box door at the pump house spat flames. His hair eyebrows and lashes singed but eyes not injured. He recovered enough to be released.

Fred M. Mason of Weld County was knocked to the ground when a wire rope on a hay stacker touched a Northern Colorado Power company line. He fell onto a tin can, imprinting its image on his back. Rescued by assistant T. J. Linburg, Mason regained consciousness and is expected to recover.
Mrs. Augusta Boullard a wealthy widow and mother of eleven children wed John B. Jones a farmer from Eaton. The match surprised residents of Eaton and Severance where Roullard lived for years. The wedding was kept quiet from party friends.
Children aged eight to sixteen are urged to take an active part in the temperance drive this fall. The Young Campaigners, organized by Miss Winona Jewell, meet Saturday at 3 PM in the Congregational church to begin drills with songs marches and other features planned for regular meetings.
H. M. Bull has secured an interest in Shaw Dry Goods and begins duties this morning. He brings twelve years of merchandising experience with Marshall Field & Co. in Chicago and Denver, aiding Mr. Shaw so he may be on the sales floor. Mr. and Mrs. Bull arrived yesterday and will reside on the hill.
The Pueblo asylum acting superintendent refused patients, prompting a deputy to deliver a judge’s contempt citation. A patient arrived, was refused for lack of room, then died the day before the issue came to light, raising questions about future admissions and Weld’s readiness to test the state’s duty to care for the mentally ill.
Special to The Republican LaSalle Sept 20 Gerald Titan aged 6 son of Henry Titan lies in critical condition at his father's home near the Hanbury beet dump west of LaSalle after being kicked in the abdomen by a grazing horse. He was playing with two dogs when the horse kicked as he passed. The accident was witnessed by a grading crew and he received medical care in LaSalle.
Hon J M Glass of California will lecture in the park Sunday afternoon at 3 o clock in behalf of the prohibition amendment.
J L Gray, deputy game warden, oversaw stocking of the Poudre River with 50 000 trout fries from Denver's fish and game office. The consignment included 25 000 native and 25 000 rainbow varieties. The commission aims to flood stocking this year with the Poudre receiving a large share.
Entries for the Weld county fair must be filed at 809 Ninth Street in the office of secretary W. E B. Kinsella. Inquiries have been made about the filing location.
Pierce notes H R Waring will return Sunday from a two weeks trip to Reno Nevada arriving in Waring city with travel finishing this weekend.
In Denver on September 20 a train roared into an inbound stockyards tramway trailer at Forty seventh and York, killing Charles Strohn and Thomas Cullen and fatally injuring Robert Oxley. Four more people were hurt, with two women narrowly escaping. The tramway motor car remained undamaged. Authorities could not fix responsibility.
The annual Methodist brotherhood banquet last night drew a full room for seventy five covers. An orchestra played during the meal as C. B E. Carter acted as toastmaster. The program included sermons and talks by C H Bliss H W Curtis G R Miller Prof McTurrell and Rev C E Mogg.
Charley Weber and friends return from a Wyoming hunting trip bringing elk meat. They praise jerking the meat for its forest tang and pine smoke aroma. Weber calls elk hunting the finest sport.
A September 2 letter from W. P. Wasley reports his son William Wasley among a small group of Americans besieged in Cananea Mexico forty miles from the border. Provisions are scarce with railroads and bridges destroyed, and supplies expected to last only four weeks. The writer urges calm and notes help may come from the border. otherwise conditions could worsen.
Twenty five new members were added to the lodge roll at a special meeting in M B A hall last night. State manager R A Mc Clellan spoke impressively and a program was presented by Misses Helen Walsh Celia Walsh Sylvia Archibald A C Eubanks Lloyd Ostermoor and J Z Stow.
