Dr. C C H Downing of Evans filed his intention to take out a patent with the county clerk and recorder. He has worked on the wheel for months and claims it will greatly reduce jarring, benefiting automobiles and ambulances. The device is described as ready for the market soon.
A historical note describes a wagons wheel concept where a solid metal center holds spring steel spokes and an outer rim. Springs bend to fit a smaller circumference, creating a wheel with no dead center and potentially eliminating car bumps and body springs.
Weld County Poultry and Pet Stock association announces a three day exhibition in Greeley from December 14 through 16. C H Rhoades of Topeka will judge, drawn by the association’s growth to about 100 members and plans for 600 to 1,000 birds. Officials expect growing interest from Weld county farmers and aim to enlist every farmer to enter at least one pen.
Green City reports the first two carloads of potatoes shipped from the flats by Pred Stevens on a J. T. Warren farm sold for a dollar per hundred pounds. The Men's Brotherhood of the Congregational church will meet and hold a supper at the church this evening with Rev Ozora S Davie president of the Chicago Theological Seminary addressing the gathering in Ley.
Complete list of Weld fair races shown for next week includes the big free-for-all pace in Fort Collins with Orange Hal and Roy Wilks in a multi thousand dollar side bet. Roy Wilks owned by W. L. Weir of Longmont has beaten Orange Hal this year only once at Fort Morgan. Orange Hal has since won several faster races. The same pair to run in Greeley next week, with Fort Collins race outcome shaping the rivalry. Also listed are entries for 2:25 pace Charley McKee to 2:00 trot Ivan The Great and Dreamland Boy among others, with location notes on Denver, Loveland, Fort Collins and more.
Coroner's jury finds the Union Pacific railroad company responsible for Elmer Rust's death at the Godfrey Bottoms crossing. The jury notes the crossing was dangerous and that the car left the grade, plunged over an embankment, and was crushed near Weld County Colorado. Deputy sheriffs Peterson and Frazier were injured and are recovering.
Daniel H. Carlton, a Greeley pioneer born in Maine, died Monday night at his daughter's home in Pleasant Valley. He was 76 and had long been frail. funeral services will be held Wednesday at Macy's parlors with burial in Linn Grove Cemetery beside his wife.
Mrs. Amelia Literbrand near Lucerne reported a robbery of a pocketbook containing 15 by three tramps. Deputy Peterson called Daniel Straight, who, with his brother in an auto, pursued and arrested Henry Osborne George Hopkins and Elmer Thompson near Greeley. The pocketbook was not recovered.
The city council will likely debate installing a new fire alarm system this evening. Former Denver chief Pierce, contracted to install it, met with the fire and light committee after securing telephone company permission to use poles and conduits for a nominal cost. The number and type of alarm boxes will be decided, with work to begin soon.
H B Churchill traveled to Denver today for undisclosed discussions as part of a wider administrative visit. No further details were provided in the brief dispatch.

Centennial chapter of the D A R met Saturday afternoon in the library assembly hall to celebrate charter day marking the sixth anniversary of the local chapter. Guests included northern Colorado regents. E R Thayer presided. Mrs Wheaton of Denver and Boulder regent Mrs Johnson spoke. cake and songs followed. over fifty members attend.

The Denver platform provokes indignation from counties tied to coal and rail interests, while anti platform delegates hail from Weld, Mesa, Larimer, Boulder, Delta and Montrose with limited Mexican population and railroad concerns.
