Malik Objects To Discussing Mac's Report

Malik objects to discussing Gen Douglass MacArthur's fourth UN report on North Korea and Soviet aid. The document, not yet released, is said to contain evidence of Russian shipments and Chinese trained manpower. UN Secretary General Trygve Lie had not published it, and Malik warned he could not participate in a debate without timely circulation.

Brother of Local Man Among Two Dead In Logan Fire

Two men died in a fire that swept the Mullen Home for Bars in Fort Logan Colorado. William T. Coughlis, 68, of Topeka Kansas and Leo Skinner, 60, of Minnesota were trapped in the barracks and perished. Caretaker Robert Pst notified sheriff’s office about the blaze around noon. The cause remained undetermined though suspected to be setoling in bed. A brother of Perk Conklin of Greeley identified one victim after Englewood officials discussed details with the Tribune.

Laramie Engineer Dies After Ending His Run From Denver

Alfred Hansen a Denver Union Pacific railroad engineer died in Ivinnah Jiaepitat after bringing the Laramie passenger train into the station. Born Oct. 34, 288, he was a longtime UP employee known for the locomotive that hauled the Peny Sapress westbound. Funeral services will be held in Cheyenne with survivors including his son and daughter.

It also ordered up 205 chaplain captains and 240 army aviation officers with ground troops to go on active duty starting in November and aviation officers to be called up over four months ending in December.

Transport Hits Bridge and Plunges Into Poudre River

A transport truck carrying 5,000 gallons of road oil struck the North Elenin freeway bridge abutment early Sunday at 6:50. The rig rolled over, crashed into the river, and caught fire downstream. driver Charles Hinch-Afte, 80, of Cheyenne, suffered only bruises. Vehicle and bridge damage totaled about $6,600. the truck is owned by Motton Transport Co. of Cheyenne.

Lupton Soldier Dies of Wound in Korea

Mr and Mrs Pete Lell of Fort Lupton report their son Fyodor Adam August Lell died July 17 from wounds suffered in Korea. He trained at Fort Riley and Seattle before heading to Washington and Japan. Born and raised in Fort Lupton, he served in the 24th Division 1 gth Infantry Regiment. Survivors include Fra Mergin Sell at Fort Lewis and brother Walter of Fort Lupton.

Funeral for Roy Robertson Held Wednesday at Two

Funeral services for Roy Robertson, a noted figure in fruits and vegetables, will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from Macy's drawing room. Wounded Local Youth Now at Japan Hospital

Mrs. Harl Glausen of 1214 Sleventh Street reports her son Pte. Theodore H. Welnkan has been wounded in Korea and is hospitalized in Japan. He joined Company A, 27th Infantry Regiment, in December 1949 and trained at Fort Riley before shipping to Korea via California and Okinawa for further prep. Born in Greenley, he is the son of Mrs. Glausen and previously lived in Greenfield.

Traffic Checkers Indicate 40000 Saw Train Wreck

Survey figures from the Colorado State Highway Department show about 40 000 people viewed wreckage near Greeley on a Sunday. Traffic checkers on two U S highways counted 10.09 percent cars past the new U S 85 checker north of the accident, 6 282 at the old U S 85 site, and 810 at the north Greeley city limit on the new highway, with an average of four people per car on Sundays.

Grandy Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident

Gandy Colorado Sept. 18 Cartis Long 23 died of injuries after a motorcycle he was riding failed to make the curve on highway 34 and plunged off an embankment near nine miles north of Lona home in Kremmling. Driver Ivan Tucker of Meeker sustained head back and neck injuries. Long’s death raises the year’s fatality toll in the state.

Train Strikes Truck Die Derails North of City

A Union Pacific No. 62 local passenger train derailed after striking a flatbed truck two and a half miles north of Greeley at 10 17 a m. Injuries were reported including a critically injured driver Domingo Rendon 28 of Waxahachie Texas and passenger Mabel Fuller 70 of Manteca California. Emergency crews from Cheyenne Denver and nearby towns worked to clear the scene and restore service as freight trains were delayed for hours.

State Traffic Deaths Total 159 for Year

The Associated Press reports Colorado’s traffic fatality toll reached 159 for the year. A 12 year old Bronson, Colorado resident Fred Hudson, and Ackyn Willaby of Denver suffered injuries in separate crashes. Curtis Long of Kremmling died earlier in the day in a motorcycle crash on Highway 24. Ivan Tucker, 18, of a nearby area, sustained serious injuries.

Weld County Republicans Reelect Central Committee Officers

Republicans of Weld County reelected officers at a Saturday meeting at JDOT hall. Greeley chairman Marlin G. Fletcher and Windsor vice chair Ada Winter led two year terms with secretary Sam Tellep Hazelton. About 90 attendees including many committeemen, county officials and GOP candidates heard remarks on reelecting Sen Millskin and opposing Carroll, amid labor and communist concerns.

Colorado Supreme Court Upholds Death Penalty in Berg er Case

The Colorado Supreme Court, in a 4-3 ruling, upheld the death sentence for John J. Berger Jr. of Denver for strangling his wife Josephine Berger.
