James Kennedy aged 23 of Lucerne admitted placing two bolts on the Union Pacific track at Lucerne hill to see a car jump. The motor car of signal man George Walsh struck the bolts, throwing the car into the air. Walsh and his riding companion escaped unharmed. Kennedy is confined in county jail and described as feeble minded. The incident narrowly avoided a serious wreck as a passenger train followed shortly after.
