Weld County commissioners denied Larry Shivers request to divide 40 acres near Latham Reservoir into two 20 acre parcels and approved Clarence Andersons 18 acre parcel split west of Lucerne for a new home and improvements. The planning commission had recommended denial for not conforming to the county plan. The board said the Anderson proposal would not encroach on productive agricultural land. Commissioner Jim Steinmark voted no, others approved.

A body was found Sunday by two hikers who looked into an abandoned mine shaft and noticed a blanket concealing a figure. The body was discovered under the blanket in the shaft.
Theft spree and break in tied to weekend police probe
Greeley police investigated a theft from a car a tea business burglary and a three store shoplifting spree. A man allegedly stole jewelry clothing and other items worth about 1755 from three women who later found some items at a veterans collection box. Juvenile girls ages 14 and 16 were arrested for shoplifting from three stores totaling 220 before being released to their parents.
