Pete Espinosa, 22, of Wersey, escaped injury when his car struck a parked truck owned by Paul Hoshiko of Wersey. Court report says the truck driver ran out of gas and was on the road without rear lights or emergency equipment. Damage to the car was estimated at 976.
News briefings report Windsor Duke traveling to England, first hospital trains arriving near Berlin, Dutch and Jamaican shipping notes, a Polish radio broadcast urging civilians to arm for defense, and Marseille air raid sirens signaling German raids with no confirmed bomb damage.

Six Navy flyers were killed when a twin motor patrol plane crashed near the antenna network at California radio station near San Diego. Bodies were burned beyond recognition and removed by a Navy fire crew after a two hour blaze. The crew included Lieut A J Tetons and Ensign T W Lakeamore from Coronado, Frank Vitkaviel chief aviator machinist mate from Coronado, Go Wilson aviation machinist from San Diego, E Norris aviation ordnance rian and naval pilot from San Diego, and H G Berry radioman from San Diego. Witnesses said engine trouble may have led the crash as the plane neared the antenna network.
Thomas Lomas 81 of northwest of Eaton died Thursday evening after a several days illness from pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Mrs Nel- Tio( Lemna. Funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 from Maeya drawing team with Thiermart at the Baton cemetery.
Sugar price trends and contract terms for 1939 beet crops may lift grower payments. With New York sugar prices at about $5.75, expected payments range from roughly $3 to $10 per ton depending on beet sugar content and benefits. An official communique noted a vanguard crossed the Narew river and that German columns neared Warsaw as fronts widened across Poland.
