Auto owners protest the city council declared ordinance limiting speed and banning under sixteen operation of cars. A committee urged driver examinations instead, noting 17 and 18 year olds’ abilities. A public meeting in the council chamber at 7:30 pm invites all auto owners for a full discussion.
Lawrence Vittetoe died in a Denver hospital after a two week coma from a fall from a well drilling derrick near Eaton. He was rushed by auto to Greeley and then to Denver for treatment. The body was returned to Greeley with relatives in Pierce and Oklahoma to arrange funeral plans.
XII Howe married Mrs Flossie Min of Kersey Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist parsonage in Rev Ernest Tuck’s absence. They were acc quainted by J L Doty and Miss Han Doty. The couple will reside on a ranch east of Greeley.
Parents and teachers plan a new Mothers Circle program with a meeting at each grade. A shareman will be elected from each grade to meet with teachers and the superintendent. The group aims to discuss problems faced by home and school and arrange for three programs during the year.
Mrs. J. McCormick, who lost all furnishings in a Clark ranch house fire, was surprised with a kitchen shower at Mrs. F. McCracken’s home. The event, planned by the Rebekah lodge, follows their move to a rented Eaton house after surviving severe burns while saving a piano.
Luella Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Park of Evans, marries Leo Snively of Wyoming at 4 pm in a pink and white garden ceremony. Rev. Smits officiates, with Mamie Hentchel and Melvin Park as attendants. The couple plans a reception at the Park home before departing for Wyoming cattle ranch life.
The Indians routed the Spuds in the Cheyenne matchup, scoring ten runs in the first four innings and four more late. Greeley produced seven hits including a triple and a home run trio, with Horell and LaSalle excelling in the field. Stokesberry pitched well for Cheyenne as Davis and Baxter were absent in the Spud lineup. Fowler slated to pitch next.
Jorge Graham transfers a case between Miner and Bracken from Larimer to another county. Both own half interests in a large irrigation well 12 miles northeast. Miner claims Bracken pumps more water by having a lower pump, seeking equal supply. The court must decide if Miner should lower his pump or Bracken raise to equalize before extraction.
About 100 friends surprised Carl Landgren and his bride Tuesday evening at their new residence with a nolay serenade and ice cream treat. While Landgren was away, friends decorated his business with banners and mottos in celebration.
Miss Edith S Wheeler of England and Eugene Francis Gordon son of Prof and Mrs A G Gordon of Greeley were married in Denver after obtaining a marriage license. They plan to establish a poultry farm near Greeley and their romance began at Mrs Howgates chicken ranch.
The opening concert of the season at Congregational church featured John Doane Jr on the organ with soprano Misa Edith Letterington, contralto Miss Mary Kendel, violinist Miss Helen Phillips, organist Mrs Frank Matthews, and pianist Miss Miriam Bunker. A large audience praised the performance and Doane commended Letterington calling her the finest soprano he heard in Greeley. Also noted is Albert Tuck visiting his mother Mrs Fannie Tuck before resuming study at Northwestern University.
Mr and Mrs Robert Hall and their two children have returned from a summer in Colorado Springs where Mrs Hall and Hall spent their vacation.

Miss Alice Chestnut, visiting her sisters Misa Nelle Chestnut and Mrs. Arthur Davis, departed at the start of the week to travel to California.
Mrs. A. B. Swanson and her daughter, long-time residents of Twelfth Avenue, plan travel this week to Alberta to visit relatives.
Mra C EB Phelps and her children have come back from Colorado Springs after spending the summer there.
Mrs Mary L Birch is visiting in Idaho Springs and may tour local sites during her stay. She plans to attend area events and enjoy the mountain town's scenery and amenities.
The district seeks to restrain Weld County and County Treasurer from paying registered warrants, arguing funds are needed for current expenses and future school support. Judge Graham presides with Nixon for the district and Winbourn for the county. The case tests the law governing such funding across Weld County districts.
Mrs Youman will be at Cam Field Hotel on September 6 and 7 representing Youmans Fur Co of Denver with a fine sample line of furs. Orders taken for repairing and remodeling. Tours run 10:00 a m to 4:00 p m.
Mr and Mrs L W Welch move from Visalia California to Long Beach where Mr Welch takes a job at the new polytechnic school Mrs Welch will become Mrs Pearl Holland after marriage
Miss Josephine Knowles and Prof. J. C. Kendel were married in a simple Denver ceremony at a friend's home this afternoon. Both are noted musicians. the bride studied voice and piano in Greeley and Denver, while the groom, born in Greeley, is a violinist and vocal soloist who directs music at Normal High School. They will reside in Greeley.
Kersey Sept 6 Herb Alden shipped a car of hogs to Denver today marking a successful season. This is his second car with three more planned this fall. Each car holds 56 to 60 hogs averaging 276 pounds and priced at 7.35 dollars per hundred pounds.
The State Teachers college adds three new members to the faculty entering today in the new training school building. Miss Mary A. Grupe of Mankato Minnesota will teach seventh grade, Miss Kathryn M. Long of Lamont Kansas a primary grade, and Frank W. Shultis of Canon City Colorado a grammar school class.
Miss Sarah Gibson, longtime Greeley resident, celebrated her 84th birthday at her brother J K Thompson's home with 24 old friends. A large cake with 84 candles signified the milestone as refreshments were served. Gibson recently returned solo from a California trip and lives with her brother. Mrs Hiram White returned from a week in Loveland.
After a two month search Deputy Halligan of Fort Collins and Deputy Peterson located Mrs Mary Brainard and the man Harry Scott. Brainard arrested Scott and brought the trio to Fort Collins. Brainard, employed by a storage company, said Scott posed as an old friend while the couple lived at 725 Tenth Street.
Miss Laura Cameron resumes duties in her father's shop after several months away from work, rejoining the family business and assisting with daily operations.
Charles Ferguson claiming to be a camper was found with 652 bottles of beer on ice and many empty bottles in a wagon near Greeley. Police jailed him and plan arraignment for bootlegging. He says he is from Wyoming but may live in Laporte. Also notes visit by Mr. and Mrs. Neilson and daughter Nonie to Manitou before returning to Coffeyville.
Windsor reports record enrollment for the year with 350 students and twelve teachers. The high school has seven fewer students and the primary department adds twenty five more than last year, as Superintendent Axel Johnson notes. The district notes summer departures by Russian residents but says school is in full swing.
Funeral services for John Ogden were held this afternoon at the home of Scott Monford. Rev. S F Dorey conducted the services. Mr. Ogden is survived by one son, Harry.
Floyd Smith sells his Tarber barber shop in Fort Lupton to Mr. Bracey. Smith and family move back to their former home in Kan BAA after the sale.
Local Salvation Army members urge support for home missionary work with a Harvest Festival sale on Monday September 18 at the hall. Fruit and produce displays are planned as a gift from friends and soldiers, with cash donations sent to the officer in charge at 1302 Fourth Street to bolster the home mission.
Oscar Suddarth a six year old boy was kept as a prisoner under the kitchen floor by his father B M Suddarth and the boy's grandmother to prevent removal. Deputy Sheriff Peter son made a 260 mile trip to recover the child and return him to his mother. The court order followed a divorce granting custody to the mother and a four year old girl to the father.
Dismay filled the Normal Hill bungalow once home to Fred Norcross and family when, after hanging the last curtain and picture, the house sold and the family must move again. In a labor day stunt the Norcross brood mowed without a van using an AB wagon loaded with gear to celebrate the change.
