Sterling R Brush 99 , proprietor of Gresley Auto Trimming and Greeley pioneer, died at Fitzsimons hospital Denver just before noon Saturday after a goiter operation. Born June 11 1890 in Gresley, he served in World War I aviation, later active in Park Congregational church and local groups. Survived by widow Ora Dru, adopted son, a brother and three sisters, and several half siblings.
Thompson, of Graoley, won an assault case in police court after Fred Frazier failed to show Thompson was intoxicated. Frazier had claimed Thompson drove recklessly and struck him. Thompson countered with a countercharge of assault. The court dismissed Thompson’s charge and fined others for traffic violations, including Alfred Hume $3.60, Arthur Leaver $6.60, John Batter $6.50, C J Brown $3.40, J. Newrolt and A. Baca $0 each for stop-sign and related offenses.
Ben Lorenzen a Maton banker led Weld County Taxpayers League as president at an armory meeting in Greeley. About twenty delegates from twelve locals formed an executive committee to select a working panel. Robert L. Martin Keenesburg and Homer Dedford Greeley named as officers, with H. H. Mann and K. G. Manns as temporary chairs. Afternoon talks featured John R. Woolt of Boulder and Abe Mutper of Greeley.
Eaton Sept 6 total enrollment for Eaton High School reached 527 after Thursday registration. One hundred twenty-three registered in elementary and 60 in Junior High. Grade by grade figures show first grade 56 second 56 third 67 fourth 60 fifth 46 sixth 51. Overall enrollment is eight below last year with Junior High one over and High School three under. Senior class remains the largest with 50 students.
A new county bridge on State Highway west of Fort Lupton over the Platte River is set to open for travel around September 17. Harley Warren, district supervisor, announced the completion is awaiting cement setting. The structure cost about $7,000 to construct.
Local observers say Latham Reservoir was completely drained Friday leaving thousands of carp and suckers stranded at the bottom. Estimates suggest at least 50 of the undesirable fish per creek or area. The carp and suckers were hauled away for winter use while plans to restock the lake with different fish follow the extermination of the flat.
The city council established a new tree shaded camp ground at the east end of Tenth Street offering water and shelter for residents unable to pay private camp fees. Chairman EB Christenson urged locals to direct seekers to the east end while noting restrictions on residence permits.
A report from Frederick details multiple arrests and a coroner's inquest. Elderly man Parker, 76, died after a hot bath. coroners attributed death to coronary thrombosis. Fire crews answered two calls Saturday both minor with no serious blazes. At 11 15 a gasoline rag sparked a small fire at Weld County Credit Men's Association 720 Tenth Street with little or no damage. The second alarm at 12 40 reported smoke from a residence at 1465 Tenth Street Don Watson home but no fire. Minor fender bender involving W H Thorp Evans and A Hoyt 1608 Ninth Avenue caused slight damage and no injuries.
The Greeley Garden Club plans improvements for next year's flower show. A Monday meeting at the College Administration Building rooms will address staffing, federation plans, and preparations for the August exhibit.

Shirley Edwards, four, daughter of Vic Edwards and Mrs. Edwards of 428 Thirteenth Street, crawled into a truck loaded with apples belonging to Rudolph Lundberg and rode from Greeley to Denver. Police followed to ensure her safety as she rode both ways, the child later saying she slept well during the trip.
