City council postpones the Denver Laramie street railway franchise amid a bitter clash with the Denver Laramie and adjacent lines. Negotiations seek to reconfigure rights of way to ease crossings at Eleventh and Seventh avenues and prevent streetcar bottling between rival tracks.
C L Fitch of Greeley becomes potato specialist at Colorado State College Fort Collins with duty overseeing potato breeding and disease work. E R Bennett takes over horticultural department after W Paddock's resignation. Fitch will split time between Greeley and Fort Collins, focusing on practical outreach to farmers and new varieties for dryland areas.
Tomorrow night the Elks lodge holds initiation with candidates feared and excited as they approach the goat ritual. George Horne, Harry Youngs, and Dave Wood have booked ward space at the city hospital for the events and following days. Laying Eaton water pipes will resume in Raton after a two to three week delay caused by a shortage of piping. The waterworks contractor returned with materials and work will restart soon.
In Platteville, Joe Gass a clothing merchant sues Ben Zinn in county court for $350 claiming he delivered farm sale services and was to receive $500 total. Gass says he has received $150 and seeks the remaining balance. Zinn contends he has paid all agreed sums. Attorney Ewing represents Zinn.
W A Patterson and Miss Hazel Godfrey both of Greeley were married Tuesday in Denver. The exact date remains secret. The couple will tour the state briefly before returning. The bride is a local graduate and granddaughter of Judge and Mrs D Hawks. The groom works at the Comer meat market.
Weld county opens its fall term Tuesday November 2 with more than forty criminal cases on the docket including at least twenty condemnation actions by railways and utilities. Peace bonds bind sixteen citizens to keep the peace as the docket and potential jury trials loom large.
