At CLWEATON California a prison rebellion involving about 250 inmates ended Wednesday after tear gas and fire hoses used by some 200 sheriff's deputies. Debris was hurled at officers and 15 inmates attempted escapes. Chains and padlocks barred doors. The uprising began about 13 hours earlier and followed a protest over jail conditions and perceived inadequate legal help. Seven inmates suffered tear gas exposure and two deputies minor injuries. The unrest was the second in three days.
