15 Rail Unions Seek 25-Cent Wage Increase
Heads of 15 railroad unions with about nine million members decided today to ask for a 25 cent-an-hour wage increase. The group, including shop crafts and telegraphers, says workers are behind other industries and would raise annual railroad payroll by around 400 million dollars. The announcement was made by George B. Leighty, head of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers, as unions plan a major rally on Oct. 25 to push for parity and larger raises since October 1948 when a seven-cent boost was granted.

Pensioners to Receive 25 Dollar October Payment
Denver reports state old age pensioners will get maximum payments of 65 dollars again in October. Welfare director Koung notes the top was raised from 76 to 85 and after October payments a per-pensioner balance of 62078 remains. Average deduction per pensioner down to 6.04 from 9.58, yielding an average payment of 7R.76. Receipts total 18,392,174, up nine percent from last year. Eligible pensions rise to a historic high of 81,000.

Rain Making Won't Hurt Estes Park
Panadana Calif Oct 10 The president of the Water Resources Development corporation assured officials at Estes Park Colorado Tuesday that loud cloud seeding experiments along the continental divide will not snow them under. Dr Erving P Krick said seeding operations in southern summer will not harm anyone and double watershed snowfall but target areas well above Estes Park. Locals fear snow delays to the 1951 tourist season and potential removal costs. they threaten legal action. Krick said most snowfall increase will occur high up and a May thaw will open Bates Park for tourism on schedule with benefits outweighing inconveniences.
