Indian Grave Proves Rich in Interest
A grave unearthed near the old Laramie trail is believed to hold the remains of a Native American chief, with numerous artifacts including silver bracelets, a peace pipe, a tomahawk, an intact quiver, and a US Army officer’s coat. Dr W G Dinnewley estimates the man was about 60 and buried at least 70 years ago, linking the site to the 1870 massacre vicinity. Findings suggest a possible multiple graves, with artifacts kept by local residents. Separately, F A Taylor was sentenced to the state reformatory after pleading guilty to stealing a rent item from Harry Jacobson and transporting it to Dallas, Texas.
