The passim column lists local families visiting, traveling to Denver, and holiday plans. Students from Colorado universities and Colorado Agricultural College are home for Thanksgiving. Residents like Lola Clifton and George Mouler return to study and family homes. marriages and wedding licenses are noted for several couples in the county clerk records.
Kersey residents reported a weekend full of small events including visits to family, a turkey shoot at Barnsy White ranch, and attendance at funerals in Keenesburg and Brighton. Local skating on Third Street pond, family visits from Denver and Greeley, and changes at the sugar factory marked the period.
A stream of visits and guest appearances fills the region as families host relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Tor McDonald entertain at Gil Street, various locals attend junior carnivals, and dinners mark weekends with neighbors in Peckham and Fort Collins areas. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barnes host, while others travel to Denver and Laramie for medical or family reasons.
On November 30 a brief program opened with two selections by a girls chorus led by sopranos Marion Smith Kathryn Re land Edna Lewis Toxie Armataga and altos Genevieve Nelson La Verne Nelson Helen Skyback Grace Sulli Yd and Ruby Rietatts Misa McCall accompanying on Baldwin Grand Mr Brown read the senior high honor roll and Mr Datholk the junior high one both lists longer than six weeks ago Casey read President Hoover s Thanksgiving Proclamation and Rev Nelson of the Swedish church gave a talk appropriate to Thanksgiving
Friday and Saturday reports describe Triumph potatoes dug on the Wy L Howell farm seven miles south of Kersey. The 10 acre field remained undug until this season. Frost was shallow with snow seven to eight inches in some spots. potatoes shown in perfect condition and expected to be harvested soon. Frank Zierle brought the display to Greeley, asserting minimal frost damage and careful digging to avoid soil damage.
Snowbound conditions at Sligo leave roads nearly impassable. Townsfolk travel by horse and wagon or on foot, coal loads require heavy draft teams, and the feed shortage grows more acute as cold snaps deepen.
Aeming farmers report feeding more rough feed to their stock to date than during all of last winter. They claim straw and other rough feeds are premium quality and that every workman is feeding with great care.
Mr and Mrs Wart Morriy announce the birth of a seven pound son at the Atkingon home in cost Million on Thanksgiving day. Mrs Morr ia remembered and Mrs Annet Mae Atklagon, La Sally honored Nov 30. Bars to Mr and Mrs Bim Todd at Greeley hospital a boy born Sunday. Mrs Kinsinger returned to Evan from Acottablaff Nebr and will stay with grandmother in California this winter. Tenley mine north of Wellington supplies coal to farmers in Weld and Larimer counties leased by D Gallatin.
Greeley proclaims the week of December 2 as Safety Week urging careful driving amid rising accidents. Mayor HL Hautohens cites lack of traffic knowledge and careless driving, with Paramount Pictures star Harold Lloyd’s Welcome Danger shown at Hex Theatre to promote safety. Traffic officers will reward cautious drivers during the week.
The 1929 proclamation declares December 2 as Batety Week in Greeley Colorado. City officials urge residents to study traffic regulations and obtain the ordinance from the police station or City Clerk at City Hall during the week.
Windsor on Friday night December 6 hosts a pageant titled Old King Cale staged by Winter High School Girls Athletic Association. Anne Medra Garten directs the event with help from other high school girls assisting in the production.
