Washington reports President Roosevelt approved arbitration to settle the coal strike as leaders from United Mine Workers and steel owners accept his suggestion. Lewis and the policy committee pledge cooperation, with 4000 captive miners back at work as arbitration begins.

Denver November 22 Edmonds Construction company of Phoenix Arizona submitted the lowest bid of 312 404 for construction of a camp for itinerant farm workers at Fort Lupton Colorado The project includes 24 farm worker homes 82 duplex units 160 single shelter houses and four community and utility buildings all to be built on a lot The bid was among several bids for similar camps and the award was awaited by the Federal Security Admin and the Farm Security Administration The first occupants were expected to move in by late May or early June with longer term use for harvest labor across crops in the Fork Lupton area The article notes related work near Palisade and mentions other bids and bidders and a temporary shelter camp under construction in Pallande

The local draft board announced January 1 start for fall physicals, enabling groups to travel to Denver for exams and later induction, clarifying acceptance status before induction.

Dr Oliver Troxel was named head of the department of public relations at the college succeeding Major George A Irvin who moves to active service with the U S Army In Was hington D C Troxel a former elge chairman of the department of physical education has long chaired the college athletic board and will lead four divisions including extension services and placement bureau The board also approved Feed Olibrial as head of personnel and guidance and supervisor of student employment dormitories and activities at the college.
