Mayor George M. Houston addressed Unity church on Greeley in 1920 with a firm Forward theme urging unwavering energy toward city building. He cited past lessons, warned against discouragement, and urged unity to push the present work for a greater future.
Mrs J Raun of 612 Thirteenth Street awoke to find her infant dead, believed likely due to suffocation after the baby was heavily bundled for warmth during the night. Authorities have not yet definitively confirmed the cause.
Ellen Dagle sues for divorce from her husband George Dagle on a charge of desertion since 1901. The couple married in Boulder on September 20 1885. Attorney J K Houghton represents Mrs Dagle.
A derailed Union Pacific freight car with steel rails near Fort Lupton caused hours of delay on Sunday with no injuries. Denver Cheyenne passengers were stalled. near Teller Lake onlookers watched crews clear the track. In Carr a box car jumped track causing an hour delay with no injuries. At Eaton a Colorado and Southern freight tore up UP track at the sugar road crossing prompting flagging and cautious travel.
J K Martin manager of the Apollo club of Denver lays plans in Greeley for the Fortnightly club season opener. Seventy men will perform instead of fifty with soloist Mrs Bessy Dade Hughes. A lobby concert at the Camfield hotel will feature a preconcert selection.
Secretary of State Knox, after a White House meeting with the president, stated that if verified facts in the Grace and Cannah case are confirmed, the government will immediately prepare a demand on the Nicaraguan government for reparation for the death of the two men.
The College Stars a Greeley team of college men from state schools will meet the Arrows at the Armory next Friday night. Woolf may face Deane McCreery in a premier position contest expected to draw strong western interest.

Dr Amanda Hamilton's purse was snatched from Miss Mabel Willard as they walked home on Wednesday night. The thief dropped the purse in William Mayher’s yard at 804 Eleventh Street, leaving two eighty five dollar bills and insurance papers inside. Police note the thief appeared experienced, fled toward Mayher’s vicinity, and discarded the bag and papers when confronted.
The Berthoud school board paid Miss Velma Wood $400 after a contentious case over her firing and a jury verdict. Wood testified for ex-superintendent C. L. Newcum amid threats and later sued for salary and damages. mandamus threats prompted payment of the judgment. Wood, a University of Colorado graduate, now serves as a Breckenridge principal with a higher salary.
A trustee now administers the Thompson Clothing company amid claims of a $60,000 mortgage held by Cc C Thompson and attempts by federal authorities to locate Edward X Thompson and partner Harry Youngs. Alleged asset shortfall of about $30,000 since year’s start is reported though not fully verified.
William J. McGregor a police officer faces murder charges in the death of Frank Tuck after a drunken brawl on Fifteenth Street. The trial began with Judge Garrigues presiding and a crowded courtroom as jurors were drawn and the defense hinted at unavoidable homicide.
Football results from last Saturday show Nebraska edging Denver 6 to 5 while Yale routed Harvard 8 to 0 led by Captain Coy's accuracy. Colorado College and Mines and Denver University meet Thanksgiving atractions loom. Colorado College travels to Broadway Park for the Denver clash.
Frank Caywood sues W C Greer in county court after appeal from E B Hatch justice court claims Greer did not pay 87 dollars to the plaintiff. The case was brought to county court on the appeal.
Consul Carl F. Deichman reports Formosa will add thirty new sugar mills authorized in early 1909. The plants will crush 4,450 tons of cane daily and involve about 3 million dollars in capital. Machinery contracts were secured by a Honolulu firm.
Glen Shaffer of Fort Morgan nearly missed his marriage license after doubting whether he was 18 or 21. He determined his age and the marriage was cleared with bride Mrs. Bessie Bedman of Evans as the prospective spouse.
Cherry Illinois November 22. White 100 men believed alive in the St Paul mine none yet discovered. Miners in long shifts work the west terminal striving to bore through the heavy wall separating them from liberty. It is unclear if any men remain beneath.
In LaSalle on Saturday afternoon John Staudinger's shotgun discharged while he mounted his horse. His 7-year-old sister Mildred was struck in a foot and leg at Beebe Draw. The girl rode her pony awaiting her older brother. Care was delayed but she suffered pain and swelling yet is recovering nicely. The incident remains under medical care with no serious outcomes anticipated.
