Utah pen escapee held for trial
One of two Utah State Penitentiary escapees bound over to Laramie County District Court on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and breaking and entering. William H. Sampley, 27, bond set at 20000. Other preliminary hearing continued for Dennis R. Baker, 26, due to attorney absence. The pair allegedly broke into a residence Oct. 2, took 10 guns, and threatened a man as they left, with investigations tracing their movements through Wyoming after escaping Oct. 1.

CU campus at Colorado Springs awaits funding approval
The Colorado Commission on Higher Education backed a 94 year master plan for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs campus with a projected cost of 46 million. The plan outlines academic goals and phased construction of 15 new buildings, aiming for 10 000 students and 60 faculty by 1997 with libraries recreation and student union planned for 1975 to 1977 and more structures through 1997.
