Weld County welfare data show non-welfare families receiving food stamps up 8 percent from October last year while those under other public assistance fall 9 percent. Non-welfare stamp recipients reached 1,140. welfare recipients numbered 7H, down from 862 a year ago.

Colorado retail gains led by real estate insurance and finance
A State Revenue Department report shows real estate, insurance and finance as the most active Colorado retail classes in the July September quarter. Retail sales totaled 3.13 billion, up 14 percent from a year ago, with auto sales and service stations the largest segment at 629.6 million. The only decline was transportation, communication, electric, gas and sanitary services, down 2.9 percent to 127.4 million. Other strong performers included mining 9.6 million up 66 percent, agriculture 12.7 million up 53 percent, services 168 million up 30 percent, general merchandise 194.9 million up 23 percent, building materials and farm equipment 214.1 million up 21 percent, and food stores 371 million up 1 percent.
