Vail Plans 1912 Highway Improvements In Greeley Area

C D Vail state highway engineer told a Greeley delegation on Saturday that widening and oiling shoulders along Highway 86 and widening narrow bridges are planned for 1912. The meeting discussed bids to rebuild bridges between Greeley and Brighton and the Sheen raw bridge on Highway 34 west of Greeley. Estimates place total cost around 36 000 for Schen raw bridge, with 206 000 accumulated in highway credits. County commissioners indicated acceptance of available gas tax funds for these improvements.

Confessions Claimed In Orahood Slaying

In Orahood California on November 14 Sheriff Ware said two youths confessed to the Tolent case involving George H. Crahnad and 13, a sergeant and a farmer. Weldon Keeling, 19, and Jos Sanders, 16, gave statements while being questioned after pickup on the San Diego highway. The officer was found dead at his home near El Centro with an iron poker.

Two Denver Boys Killed in Arizona

Two Denver youths Qon Campbell and Teverly J Giblen, both 20, were killed in an auto collision 14 miles east of Salome Arizona. Fred Russ of Los Angeles drove the car in the crash reported by Arizona highway patrol.

A report to the state milk council outlines goals of the defense program to produce enough milk to float seventeen 6,000-ton ships, about 42 million pounds more than planned for this year. Floyd Reed of the Agricultural Marketing Service notes the broader food program aims include 10 percent more cattle, 29 million dozen eggs, 18 percent more slaughter cattle, 80 percent more pigs, 30 percent more potatoes, 13 percent more wheat, 11 percent more corn, 1 percent more truck crops, and 20 percent more onions.
