A total of 1,484 persons had voted at 15 polling places in the city, about 2.1 percent of the 6,240 registered voters. The data reflects early voting activity observed up to the time of the check.
United Fund has reached 87 percent of its goal with 78.8 percent collected as drive totals near 90 thousand dollars. In Greeley, voters turnout at Lincoln School and Maplewood School precincts showed early activity. overall turnout counted 1,446 votes across precincts with park polling and crowding noted.
At the Hested construction site on 6th Ave and 8th St in Evans three Horton Plumbing & Heating employees were trapped when a wooden elevator platform failed. Injured are Robert Heinle 32 Jack Miller 20 and John McNamara 27 hospitalized with back leg and ankle injuries. Eyewitness Ben Armitage described the fall as the platform plunged from three stories.
Max St Ford 28 a Cheyenne man died in a single vehicle crash on U S 85 at Lucerne Junction around 2 30 am Tuesday. Ford’s 1962 automobile left the highway struck a cement culvert in the median. Vehicle damage was about 2000 with Ford survived by his wife. Deputy County Coroner Reed Adamson helped in the investigation with Patrolman Wellington Ferrell.
In Broistedt Germany rescue borings halted by shifting ground as engineers below 240 feet try to reach 11 men trapped in a flood at the iron mine since October 21. Drilling lags behind schedule with hopes fading. officials report some escapees anxious and awaiting progress while a rescue shaft and supply shaft face drilling difficulties.
Engineers at Great Western Sugar Co. report shaft sift delays due to shifting earth causing beets to spill from piles and halting cementing. Rescue efforts continue as miners trapped by a dam break total 43 with 85 escaped and 3 rescued last week. Crew uses borings at two points to locate 19 missing miners while calm is reported by officials. Payment on the 1963 beet crop to growers is set for Nov 20 after final delivery day.

William Boltz 80 and his wife Elizabeth 78 were hit on Sth Ave and 10th St Windsor Sunday evening. Boltz remained in poor condition at Weld County General Hospital Tuesday morning while Elizabeth was listed as fairly good. Firemen aided, a U.S. plane carried them from Saigon after the incident.
The Madison Elementary School at 6th Street and 24th Avenue will open Wednesday with students moving in during the day. Brentwood School awaits final clearance for move in with a tentative opening planned for Thursday. public open houses are set for Sunday.
