Joe Eaton, 60, prominent Eaton resident, died suddenly at home Friday afternoon. His wife found him, and he was taken by funeral staff to Arabtroug mortuary. He was a former mayor and served in the army in Franco, with two sons and a widow Nellie Eaton surviving along with multiple siblings. He attended Denver University and the University of Chicago, and was involved in local business and stock dealing. Funeral arrangements were announced.

An air force bomber crashed in fog and rain west of here, killing five crew members. The unidentified crew included First Lieutenant T. W. Battard, Second Lieutenant George W. Smith of Asheville, Sergeant Los Shambara of Hauine dale, Robert J. Hagerman, and John D. Southard of Springfield. The crash scattered debris over 400 feet. no cause or details of the crash were immediately available.
