Roosevelt Signs Farm Parity With Understanding It Be Real Maximum

President Roosevelt signed legislation establishing parity payments for major crops and offsetting cash and conservation payments to keep farm prices at parity, with a cap to prevent excess. The measure aims to preserve purchasing power relative to 1909 14 levels and imposes penalties for abnormal production. Government loan rates for 1940 included wheat 65 cents, corn 61 cents, cotton 45 cents, tobacco 16 cents, and others per current averages.

Fort Collins pair arrested in sign damage case at White Horse Inn

Three adults and a 16 year old were detained in Garden City after damaging a neon sign at the White Horse Inn on Saturday night. They were held at the county jail and released without charges after settling the damage Sunday. The group named Gene Chacan 23 Tom Bioore 23 and John Moore 23 with a 16 year old among those involved.

Fire destroys La Salle barn during thunderstorm

A large barn owned by Le Edward Sauer near La Salle was destroyed by fire sparked during a thunder shower likely caused by lightning. The 40 by 80 foot structure with tar roof and tied hayloft burned within an hour, with about 49 tons of hay and several tons of grain lost. One hundred volunteers failed to save it. only a chicken 50 feet away survived.

Pueblo Club Guilty Directors Freed In Trial

May 26 Pueblo report states Pueblo Golf and Cavalry Club and corporation charged with permitting gambling faced verdicts. F A Marshall Killed in Auto Crash Near Rosell Home

F A Marshall died after being struck by a car driven by Dr Re Guddard of Garden Gley near Rosell Home on Saturday night. The 75 year old, walking across Elshth Avenue, was knocked 12 feet as the northbound vehicle collided. Coroner T C Wihwoth announced Marshall’s death and noted he had long resided in Greelay. He leaves a large family including seven grandchildren and relatives in Denver and Oakland. Funeral plans set for Tuesday in Denver.
