Edwin J Haefeli Dies at Age 83
Edwin J Haefeli a longtime Greeley optometrist and community leader died early Thursday at Banell Retirement Community. He was 83 and marked his 10th anniversary of practice in Greeley in 1903. Born in Denver December 18 1869 he studied there and graduated from the Los Angeles School of Optometry. He moved to Greeley in 1918 and practiced at various offices before joining his final practice in the MacLeod Building at 01 10th Street. He was a member of St. Val’s Catholic Church past president of the Colorado Geometric Association American Optometric Association and held life memberships in local groups. He served on trustees for Livadon Hall and was active in business and civic groups including the Chamber of Commerce and the original community chest. He was also a past president of several organizations and remained active in local civic work.
