Presbyterians allow lay baptism and communion changes
The United Presbyterian Church amended its rules to permit lay members to administer baptism and the Lord's Supper when specially authorized, mainly to cover situations with no clergy. It also relaxed infant baptism, allowing postponement to an age of decision, while maintaining clerical role for normally administered sacraments. The 9 day assembly approved the shifts amid debates over clerical authority and church doctrine.
