Heavy southern storm drops moisture on Weld County crops

A late week storm moved into Weld County delaying travel and delivering moisture from 0.25 to 0.40 inch across Windsor Johnstown Platteville and surrounding areas. Sugar factories at Windsor and Johnstown reported significant rain and snow with total April moisture around 2.50 inches in the region. Temperatures dipped to near 20 degrees with freezing moisture on metal and glass while wind and drifting were limited. State patrol logged minor accidents as crews prepared for warmer skies on Saturday.

Softball Managers Meet Friday on Entry Plans

Farr Building More Storage for Ault Beans

Ault May 4. Construction of a new ware house and bean storage building at the Parr company elevator moves forward. Foundation work begun last week by Mason and Prariga contractors. The steel structure will rise from a concrete 6 foot base, sections shipped to weather tighten the unit, measuring 868 by 122 feet and located north of the main kenn elevator. Total storage capacity reaches 70 000 bags with added cleaning machinery to speed handling for the 1950 crop. Manager Marrie Soyher says farmers will gain better marketing times and reduced bean handling delays.

A series of three break-ins at Jay Reet service station and cafe on Fifteenth Avenue and Eighteenth Street shows $47.19 stolen this time, bringing total losses to about $54.80. The latest burglary occurred Friday morning through a broken garage door and kitchen window. Deputy Sheriff Bi Stetphott investigated, noting the recurring pattern and entry points.
