Ralph Lott, 19, son of Charles L. Lott of 1126 Twelfth Avenue, was unintentionally shot in the knee Sunday while handling a .22 rifle east of town. He was taken to Greeley hospital, later discharged to home. The sheriff said a cartridge remained in the gun after discharge. Lott is a student at Gra State College.
Beets in Windsor district face delayed harvest with rain and wind damaging crusts. Greeley reports 0.17 inches, Eaton 0.05, Windsor 0.16 inches Sunday. Pred Bayles age 48 of 73 south Pearl Denver was taken to the Qureeley hospital after a hit and run on a street corner. The Denver man was attempting to cross a roadway when struck by a vehicle, received a fractured leg, and was aided by a courtesy patrol before transport.

W T Twombly 88 former Weld county sheriff died Sunday morning near Fort Morgan Colorado. He served six years as sheriff and helped move the county jail, led the early county lawmakers, and later served as county representative. Survived by three children George Twombly Port Mer Ray attorney and two grandsons at Denver University. Services will be held Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church.
