City council weighs converting 9th and 10th Streets to one-ways from 7th to 23rd Avenues to cut motel and restaurant traffic, curb accidents, and ease movement. Officials cite state law limits and possible reimbursements while planning north south routes and broader city traffic goals.
Colorado Senator William Garnsey proposes Senate Joint Memorial 10 to urge Congress to relax EPA exhaust standards until a new control system can be developed. The memorial aims to raise public awareness and frames the debate as energy crisis versus immediate pollution control.
Colorado passes a new no fault auto insurance program that requires firms to offer coverage with minimums of 25000 medical costs 25000 rehabilitation and up to 123 weekly for lost wages effective April 1 next year. Motorists can sue for pain and suffering once medical costs top 300. Insurance firms must pay own policyholders promptly and cannot shift claims to avoid fault.
The council authorized study and funding estimates for irrigation laterals and improvements, moved to convert 9th and 11th Streets to one way between 4th and 23rd Avenues, and received renewal authority updates. It also denied fence requests, funded parade overtime, and added staff.
The University of Colorado student senate voted 14 to 2 Tuesday night to urge students and others to contact Washington lawmakers demanding impeachment proceedings. The resolution cites Watergate, the Vietnam era, American Indian self determination, and aid cuts as reasons.
A six part series titled Lowered by the Fire offering a thirds eye view of Luke and Acts starts Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Eaton. Sessions run each Thursday from 9 30 to 11 a.m. through June with nursery services available at the United Methodist Church.
