Paul A. Walker, head of the communication investigation for American Telephone & Telegraph, told Washington reporters on April 30 that it has been very difficult to obtain real facts about the giant utility. He noted previous charges by the FAC commissioner that AT&T was not cooperative, citing misunderstandings between AT&T officials and investigators. He said gathering facts on AT&T operations has been slow but that a fair start has been made at public hearings. The request for a $400,000 appropriation, in addition to the $750,000 already available, was rejected in order to extend the investigation until February 1 next year, by which time facts should be ready for presentation to Congress.

Clyidd Blakesles, 40, a gold mining engineer and promoter of Greelay and Denyer, was arrested Friday afternoon in Montrose Colorado on a charge of obtaining jewelry and bonds from Mrs. Alice Holmes, an 87 year old widow, totaling about 1090 in jewelry and thousands in bonds and promissory notes. Investigators say Blakeslee used schemes to have items appraised and returned, then issued notes and coupons to collect interest. Holmes, once wealthy, now holds stock in Home Gay and Tele tls company through Blakeslee, with most of her fortune depleted and her husband O M Holmes aged years, living separately.

Mors, auto driver license applications were made in Weld county on Thursday, the record day for filings this year. County Clerk Walter F. Morrison said the total exceeded the daily average as license offices opened. Thursday was the deadline for applicants whose last names begin with A or B. The C and D group deadline comes in May 16. Rev Bainton Dies Thursday In Denver Hospital
The Rev. Howry YW Bainton of 1022 Cranford Street died Thursday evening at 9 25 in Denver Presbyterian Hospital after a prolonged illness. He was 72, born in New York City on March 5 1863, educated at Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary. For 46 years he served as a Presbyterian Sunday school missionary in the Rocky Mountain region and helped found several churches. He retired two and a half years ago. Burial will be at Mountview Boulevard Presbyterian church in Canvar Saturday afternoon at 3 30.
