Woman uses two War Stamps as one cent postage

In Boulder Colorado on March 20 a woman sent a letter to the Boulder newspaper using two one dollar War Stamps instead of the one cent postage. The post office delivered it, the woman said it was patriotism though she admits she did not notice the stamps’ wrong color.

Colorado House approves school aid on final reading

The Colorado House passed on final reading a broad school aid bill with one dissenting vote. It would guarantee 1,000 dollars yearly for elementary classroom needs and 513 for high school units, funded by 15 percent of income tax revenues for a contingent fund for at risk districts.

Zarlengo Decorated Pilot Returns Home From War

Joby Zarlengo, Flying Fortress pilot, honored with four decorations after serving in the Pacific war. A Greeley native, he attended Colorado State College of Education and joined the national guard before enlisting, later earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, and the Air Medal. He survived Midway and other battles, and will be on furlough until April 4. His parents reside in Newcastle, California.

Eldridge Dies At Gilcrest In Friday Evening Death

Robert W. Eldridge 85 died Friday evening at the Gilcrest home of his daughter Mrs. Stella Thomas. He was born October 3, 1857 in Aikin, WN and had lived in several states before moving to Pueblo, Colorado 38 years ago. Survived by four sons and two daughters, 34 grandchildren. Hood Praises Red Cross at Air Station

Lieutenant B Eugene Hood of the United States Naval Aviation Battalion at Pasco Washington praised Red Cross services during a brief visit to Greeley with his parents Mr and Mrs C H Hood. He noted Red Cross volunteers and support at all times aiding morale providing emergency loans arranging recreation and general help. Hood, a former Colorado School of Mines and University of Washington student, trained as a naval aviation cadet in 1940 and later served at Pensacola Core-Cristo Texas and Poser air station before becoming an instructor.
