J LeCuyer of Greeley high school won the senior high top prize for the project Probability with Moving Objects, earning $6. Dakan of Greeley high school took second in the senior high with The Effects of Dwarf Mistletoe on Western Trees, winning $20. Hawkins of Greeley High placed third with A Particle Accelerator for the Amateur and $30. Franklin of College high was fourth with 2 Pinhole Camera and received science equipment worth $15. Junior high winners included Sheryl Mofnat of College high school for Effects of Far Red and Red Light on Plant Growth with a $25 award, Harold Alles of Auburn for The Solar System with $15, Ken Stevens of Meeker for Can-struction and Uses of a Microscope with $10, and a two-way tie for fourth between Jerry Hetfinger of Meeker and Ronald Weaver of Heath with $5 each. Awards were funded by the Greeley Masons and Colorado State College provided equipment and books.

Preliminary work began Friday for the Weld County library on 23rd Ave just north of the No 2 fire station. Western Construction Co moved dirt while John Brass and Sons, awarded an $83,888.88 contract, are to start actual construction next week. External Construction Co will finish grading the 200 foot square tract after completion.
