Fire Destroys La Salle Farm Home Thursday
A fire at about 4 45 p m Thursday destroyed a farm home occupied by Dana E Sughroue and his wife near La Salle. Sughroue suffered a badly burned hand while attempting to call for help as flames engulfed the first floor. Fire Chief Hale Landau said a spill from cleaning fluid ignited a gas refrigerator pilot light. Firefighters fought the blaze with 14 volunteers and two engines but could not save the house, remaining until midnight to protect nearby buildings.
