Damaging Hail Strikes Weld County Farms

Beneficial thunderstorms hit Weld County early Thursday afternoon leaving some fields with up to a half inch of hail and widespread damage. Ralph Partridge of Winagor sugar factory estimated heavy losses to beets and crops, with barley and beans hardest hit. Wheat damage not yet assessed. reports cite up to 60 percent crop loss on Wind Boy farm and extensive damage near Windsor and Nuon Bafferei area.
