Allen J. McCarter Civil War veteran dies in Greeley
Allen J. McCarter died at his home 630 Fourteenth Street Ives day after a paralysis illness. Born in Ohio and once living in Iowa he moved to Greeley twenty five years ago. He served in Company 1 234 Town Infantry during the Civil War. He is survived by a widow and five children. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at the church with Rev Hunt officiating.

Load of Hay Overturned on Scales In High Wind
J R Canfield escaped major injury after a load of hay overturned on the scales at D S Ellis’s feed store during a Monday gust. He landed on his feet but suffered a badly hurt foot. Onlookers helped reload the hay and assist at the scene. Mr and Mrs L S Hickman and son Luther traveled to Loveland and Estes Park over the weekend with brief returns.
