Committeemen starting their first year on the board prepare for a bigger Greeley Spud Rodeo next Monday July 4. New appointees include R Collins concessions chairman T E Mawson treasurer Bruce Miller ashery and seating and Kenneth Perry tickels.
Dr James Mendenhall of Columbia University addressed the Young Democratic Club of Weld County warning against lobbying methods used to defeat President Roosevelt's court packing plan. He cited Wall Street influence and phony names in telegrams to Congressmen while urging citizens to vigilantly oppose risky legislative moves. Worth Allen and Luke Cavabaugh spoke. Allen announced as candidate for the supreme court. Local traffic fines were issued, including Hay Whevelaar fined for reckless driving and a stop sign violation.

Washington reports the congressional campaign investigating committee censured Aubrey Williams deputy WPA administrator for an address to the Workers Alliance labeling it unfortunate. Williams defended his remarks saying they were extemporaneous and not political.
A late Monday police court session in Greeley follows a disturbance at the Union Pacific depot. Luther Bird and Joe Roza, both fined $11.50 for disruption after an argument over attention to Bird’s wife, and Warl Keteam were fined $11.50 on intoxication charges. Chinese say the main barrier holds though Japanese land forces probed along the river and reportedly captured a fort protecting the barrier. Counterattacks are planned to retake it.
In Los Angeles on June 28, two police officers were found guilty of bombing a private detective, Harry Raymond. Captain Bri Bynette and Roy J. Alles received long prison terms, with Kynette ordered to two years to life and Allen one year to life in San Quentin.

In Doqueen Arkansas on June 28 Mrs Hetty Valentine a 27 year old orchard worker's wife gave birth to quadruplet girls weighing a total of about 96 pounds. One infant died within hours. The remaining three were kept under oxygen and nourishment at a hospital under Dr. G L Kimbam's care. The mother was reported in satisfactory condition and the babies had a chance to live.
George Gilden and city officials with their families hosted a Sunday city picnic at Fork Collins Mountain Park. Mayor E MM Colpitts announced that the day’s programs featured summer recreation activities and a demonstration by local youths. About 430 attended the event, including 200 from Greeley.
