The city council holds a session and orders a comprehensive weed-cutting program to beautify streets and public spaces across the municipality. The action aims to improve curb appeal and sanitation in the upcoming season.
City council discussed keeping the park clean by weed cutting tree trimming and removing cottonwoods for shade. It ordered the city marshal to enforce weed laws with possible $100 fines and costs. Damages sought by Mrs. E C Shambo totaled 1060 for injuries claimed from city work at First Ave and Fourteenth St last March.
Free race matinees at Teland Grove park are canceled under Island Grove Driving Club auspices. The season ends as 80 of the best horses have been removed making continuation untenable.
Flames of unknown origin gutted the interior of the Union hotel at 717 Ninth Street late last night. Firefighters controlled the blaze before it reached adjoining buildings. Building loss ranged from 1000 to 21400 dollars. owner Mrs. Jennie M. Gale, reports from California. Leased by G Crawford, furniture burned. crockery stock owned by J Hickman suffered major loss. Insurance on building, contents only on crockery stock. several residents escaped. Fire started in rear of building.

Mrs T H Stone left last evening for Jillett Arkansas to spend the summer with her son whom she has not seen in 23 years. She may stay until cool weather and possibly move there if the country agrees with him.
Fort Collins plans an all day Fourth of July celebration under the Patriotic League with a morning parade of civic groups and school children, a motorcycle race, park events, athletic contests, a ball game, and an evening band concert followed by a free fireworks display inviting the public to attend.
The Weld County Credit Men's Association met to approve a resolution requiring all local businesses extending credit to prepare and submit monthly lists of accounts two months overdue. The secretary will compile a tabulated sum owed by individuals to share with members to improve credit risk assessments. The group aims to strengthen Greeley’s credit system and curb indiscriminate extending of credit.
Richt boys members of the Boy Scouts company of the Methodist church camp in Bluebell canon near the Boulder chautauqua grounds for a week. Five left yesterday by rail for Boulder in uniform with wheels and camping outfits. Three left Monday by wheel and will arrive at the camp tomorrow. Miss Nellie Cook arrived from Windsor last evening and stayed with friends, planning to return to her Denver home this morning. She traveled with prior plans to resume her journey and resume duties in Denver after the visit.
Mrs. Max Schnitzer and her children with Miss Schnitzer from Houston Texas visit the city for the summer, staying with Mr. and Mrs. J Rothschild. Mrs Schnitzer and Mrs Rothschild are sisters.
The Spuds face an all star Denver squad on tour, with a surprise lineup promised by Spud management. The team is described as the best players from Denver clubs. Fort Collins visits next Sunday for a game on the Fourth, as Spuds stay in good shape for the slate.
Mrs Eve Corlew longtime resident of Fort Lupton died Tuesday afternoon at 8 oclock after a long illness. The funeral is set for Friday at the family home three miles east of town with interment in Hillside Cemetery.
