Navy Mothers honor three June birthdays
The June birthdays of Mines, Mary Meier, Elizabeth Wiedel and Maule McClure were celebrated at the June 23 meeting of Navy Mothers Club No. 15. Eighteen members enjoyed a luncheon, business meeting and social hour and planned a 12 30 PM picnic for July 28 at Luther Park. Members bring their own table service beverages and dish to share.

Twelve year old Ken Conk learns braille from Hilde Miss Louise Gauss who is going blind and teaches two residents at Keaton Manor. Ken trains dogs at Silverleaf training School and belongs to Wig Ways 4 H Club. He plans a birthday cake and luncheon for Miss Gauss’s 95th birthday with about 50 guests at his parents home.

Guest Carolyn Geiser attended. Jane Mcintosh closed with thoughts on friendship. Trustesses Kap Matthews Ed Buresen and Hille Cunningham chaired. No June July gatherings scheduled. Next meeting 7 10 p m Monday Sept 20 in the Garden Room.

Female engineers rise at Polytechnic Institute of New York
In New York the Polytechnic Institute of New York sees women growing in engineering. Women now constitute about 2 percent of practicing engineers and 3 percent of students, marking a fivefold rise in female enrollment over the past decade.
