The United States and Soviet Union would cut armed forces to about 1.7 million men each under a phased program. The proposal aims to limit global arms pressure and ease Cold War tensions as both sides reserve judgment on the plan.

City council met with reclamation officials to discuss storing water in the Idylwilde reservoir on the Cache la Poudre west of Fort Collins. The plan proposes 100,000 to 150,000 acre feet capacity with a long range, power supported project 45 miles west.
Lt. Col Thomas Lewis, 39, from Rock River Wyoming, arrives at Grucley to lead the Colorado State Golene Air Force ROTC department. He succeeds Major Julius A. Korman, who will become air safety officer at Clerk Field in the Philippine Islands this August. Since 1953 he has served at the Pentagon with the Directorate of Plans.

U S beet sugar production is projected to surpass two million tons in 1987 according to Agriculture Department specialists. The hearing in Denver will discuss acreage allotments for 1958, voluntary production methods, and equitable allocation among 22 beet states. Experts estimate output at over two million tons from about 1,929,000 acres. last year yielded 1,903,099 tons.
