Union Miners Set Vote on New Colorado Contract

Union locals in Colorado plan a vote on a renewal wage contract with a daily rate of 5.26 for the next two years. Representatives from United Mine Workers of America and Rocky Mountain Fuel Company discussed lifting the four year old wage scale. Sheepman Killings Shocks Pioneer Colorado Ranchers

In Fairplay Colorado James Scott a 72 year old pioneer rancher was shot dead near Nafleys. Robert L Proudfoot a 23 year old sheepman from Turner Trail Colorado is jailed after admitting the shooting. Accompanied by William Murray the pair traveled from Denver to Singleton resort where the confrontation occurred. Murray described the moments before the fatal act as Scott faced away, Proudfoot fired from behind and pistol struck the rancher.
