Weld legislators honored by Demos in 1973 Hammer awards

Grapevine detention pond contract awarded to Monks Construction

The Grapevine detention pond project on West 0 gall Avenue between 12th and UK Streets was awarded to Monks Construction Co. of Limon for 179 411.74. Other bids were Contractors West of Craig 270 770 and Garnell Bros. of Eaton 847 076. The pond, horseshoe shaped about 700 feet long and 15 feet high, will drain storm water from roughly 1 200 acres over 72 hours and could have reduced June 1972 flooding on 13th Street in West Greeley by about 70 percent.
