President Kennedy intends to seek legislation blocking any railway strike as renewed negotiations avert a broader labor walkout. He says the White House will pursue a settlement while unions and railroad executives prepare for possible actions before July 19.
State Farm is set to begin business at a new regional office in Greeley with a Monday ceremony. About 27 employees will start, rising to 130 by August as the firm rolls out initial filings across five states including Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and Wyoming, with plans for a public open house later. A mass meeting and open house are scheduled to welcome staff and introduce operations as the regional office launches its first phase.

His older brother Edward helped across, the younger slipped into knee-deep water and was swept into an underground main. A nearby boy grabbed a garden hose tossed to him and pulled him to safety. No injuries were found. The boy later said he feels better now.
Colorado Governor Johu Love travels to Washington to urge Congress to add Lands or the Silt Project in Western Colorado and back President Kennedy's river area appropriations. He will testify Monday before the Senate Public Works subcommittee and the House Interior Appropriations panel, with travel back Tuesday night.
